Absence makes the heart grow fonder

We're under the 40 day mark now!  I can't believe how fast time is flying!

I've been a lonely bachelorette for the past several days, since D is off on his bachelor party vacation!  He, his best man Ziling and his brother-in-law Thad are out backpacking in the Grand Tetons.  It's not your typical bachelor party by any means, but it is so incredibly perfect for Doug, and I'm so happy he's gotten the opportunity to go on an amazing adventure for his bachelor party!  They began their adventure really early Saturday morning, and won't be back until late Saturday/early Sunday.

D and I have a very unique relationship, where we literally spend almost all of our time together.  Since we work together, we always wake up and commute to work together, eat lunch together, go home together, and usually spend all evening together before falling asleep.  I've always thought it was interesting because he's pretty much the only person I never get sick of!  The longest we've been apart since we started dating was just a few days, and even then we were always in contact via phone or internet.  But obviously they don't get cell service in the park, so this is the longest time we'll have gone without talking in four years.  It's weird.

Because we spend so much time together, it is really glaringly obvious when he isn't around.  The house just doesn't feel the same without him.  I'm also becoming more aware of all the little things he does around the house that I don't even think about.  Things like making my coffee just the way I like it every morning, watering the plants, getting the mail, resetting the internet router, telling me bedtime stories so I can fall asleep faster... I could go on and on.  It makes me really realize and appreciate the lovely life that we have built together, and how without each other it really is less than whole.

Now, I don't want you thinking that I'm just sitting around crying and broken without him.  I'm having plenty of fun while "the cat is away" so to speak, hanging out with girlfriends, watching trashy tv, drinking wine, and eating all my favorite foods and not having to share! ;)

But man, I miss him.  Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder.
