Happy new year!

As D and I rang in the new year with champagne kisses, I was more excited than normal.  Usually I don't really get all excited about new years, but this year was different.  2013 is OUR year.  This is the year that will be filled with so many experiences that will create lifelong memories.  13 may be unlucky for some, but it will be our lucky year. :)

Prior to all the holiday craziness, we met with a second florist, Rachel at Rhythm and Blooms.  Although we really enjoyed meeting with Shannon earlier in November, we wanted to at least have met with two florists to compare prices/styles to make a more informed decision.  Douglas was interested in meeting with her because he is very familiar with her work.  The first bouquet of flowers he ever got me was from her {and her specifically!} and he more often than not would get me flowers from her shop Rhythm and Blooms throughout our dating history.

One of the first bouquets Douglas got me from Rhythm and Blooms  {Circa 2009} :)
After meeting with her she had some really lovely ideas that were creative and unique, and were inspired by the pictures I showed her, not just replicating them.  Her prices were actually slightly more cost effective than the quote from the previous florist, but they were really too close to make any call based on that alone.  Given that Douglas has a history of purchasing her flowers throughout the duration of our relationship, we made the decision to go with Rachel based on the emotional connection.  We thought it would be kind of sweet to have her do our wedding flowers too, since her work has aided in the courting process that led up to the wedding. ;)

The holidays hit and we were happy to get to take some time off of work and spend it with our families and each other.  There seemed to be a theme with gifts this year that were centered around the wedding {poor Douglas, lol}.  Doug's sister {and one of my bridesmaids!} Becca gave us some extremely thoughtful gifts: a journal that we could use as a guestbook, and "mock ups" of table numbers made with wine corks that we could use for the wedding.

So crafty!

The really sweet part was that she hand stamped each page with the same stamp that she used for her guest book when she got married a few years ago.  The cover was also made to resemble cork which goes with our "winery inspired" theme.  So lovely. :)  The presents D and I got for each other were also wedding related... our wedding bands!

Best Christmas present ever!

They look so good together. :)

Admittedly it is extremely difficult to not wear them around, haha.

A belated Christmas present arrived after we got back from the holidays... our save the date cards!  Sarah from Gigi and Poocha who designed our wedding invitations also made up a design for postcards that we can mail out to our out of town guests.  They look fantastic!

Front of postcard {the color is better in real life}

Back of postcard!  They match our wedding invitations :)

Now all I need to do is work on my calligraphy skills {or lack thereof...}, get them addressed and sent out!

So many fun things are falling into place.  I just know that 2013 is going to be such a wonderful year!
